We took the decision many years ago that we wished to create high quality images, and to do that meant we had to shoot in a RAW format. Essentially the camera records the basic digital information from the sensor and does no processing at all.
In effect this gives us a 'digital negative' from which we can create a variety of images, without ever affecting the original picture. This digital negative cannot be viewed by normal programs and needs special software to 'convert' to jpegs which most people are familiar with. This not only takes time, but also means that every image is individually adjusted to get the maximum amount of information from the data, as well as allowing us the opportunity to alter it by applying various techniques and filters in Photoshop.
Whilst this system is perhaps not as user friendly as simply shooting in jpegs it does give us the ultimate control over the final image, a control which is so important in the later stages of creating the final versions for your wall or album, all the while knowing that the original image/data is safe and cannot be altered. This also helps us in legal work when images are required for the court, as, knowing that the original cannot be altered, they can be accepted into evidence.
So if you find that it takes a little time to create your image, and we charge to create it for you, it is simply so we can ensure that you can get the best possible result, something which you cannot get from a jpeg. We have had some of our images enlarged to over 6 foot so we know you can get the result you are looking for for your wall!
But always remember
